Samsung announces free online courses

New technologies are more present in people’s lives today, and an alternative to keeping busy in something productive while we are at home is online education. Samsung offers a valuable tool for students and teachers who want to train in the professions of the future.

Samsung Electronics in alliance with the Laboratory of Technological Integrable Systems (LSI-TEC) of Brazil, created since 2018 the “Code IoT” platform, through which free Internet of Things, programming, basic electronics, robotics courses are taught and development of Android applications for anyone interested.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is increasingly present in all aspects of everyday life. We no longer only have to connect groups of people through the internet, but also people with their objects, from cars to refrigerators, televisions and white goods.

Latin America cannot be left behind in the knowledge and development of these new technologies, that is why Samsung, through the Corporate Citizenship Management, has bet on this initiative to expand knowledge about the Internet of Things, in order that more people they can, in the future, create their own smart objects to solve problems in their environment.

“Samsung seeks to contribute to the development of technologies that can be used to solve real problems in society. The objective of the free online courses is to expand interest and access to knowledge about the Internet of Things for anyone with internet availability or data from a smartphone and thus benefit more people in Latin America, “says María Fernanda Hernández of Corporate Citizenship of Samsung Electronics Latin America.

Free courses in three languages
The courses last 6 weeks and will be taught in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. Participants who complete all the proposed tasks will receive a certificate of completion for each course.

The cycle of courses in Spanish began on April 4, with “Electronics: basic concepts and components”. Then you can take: “Introduction to the Internet of Things, in which you will learn what the IoT is and how it works; “Learning to program”, which will teach how to program with the Scratch language; “Applications for mobile devices”; “Connected Smart Objects” and “Physical Programming”.

The workshops, which are completely free, are intended for students and teachers of basic and secondary education. However, anyone interested in the subject can sign up.
